I am not usually a fan of Partagas cigars as for me they often tend to be overly peppery and a little hot and strong in the second half. Ironically the exceptions are the Lusitania and the Short, their two cigars at each end of the scale. The first time I tried a Partagas short, it was simply a revelation. Featuring a beautiful, rich, cocoa coloured wrapper, that was perfectly constructed. I couldn’t believe the volume of smoke it made putting most Robustos to shame. The flavours were all classic Cuban with cedar, cocoa, leather, pepper and cinnamon. I look out for the ones with the darkest wrappers, this may be psychological but they seem to produce the fullest flavoured smoke. One can’t really go wrong with the shorts, an ideal short smoke. It’s size does not diminish it’s smooth draw. Most satisfying.
