Brora Triptych 1972
(0pts)
The imposing doors of Brora have remained shut since 1983. In the intervening years the legend of this great distillery has been kept alive by humble, whispered tales of Brora’s skilled craftspeople.
Highly revered by whisky connoisseurs and collectors alike, whisky from the original, dwindling stocks have never been more in demand.
A rare style from casks of 1972, this whisky represents an earthy expression, only created in short periods throughout the distillery’s history. This fleeting icon has grown to becoming a defining character from Brora.
Warm chestnut in colour, the delicate aroma blends wood spice with hints of peach tarte tatin. The taste takes off amidst a powerful rich maltiness, notes of serrano ham, menthol and tobacco adding an intense complexity. These flavours give way to pervasive Sichuan chili pepper, before a wisp of dry coal smoke lingers long after the finish.
